Thredbo, Kosciuszko National Park, NSW

Thredbo, in Kosciuszko National Park, is less than a three hour drive from Canberra.  Nestled in the Snowy Mountains, it's one of the most beautiful spots to visit.  This trip was in late February 2005, so the worst heat of summer was just past its peak.  In this alpine climate, though, plenty of patches of snow were still to be found.

This is a scenic alpine stream early in the trek, before reaching the Kosciuszko Walk trailhead.  From the top of the main Thredbo ski lift (the Kosciuszko Express), near the Eagle's Nest restaurant (approximately 36°29′41.76″S, 148°17′21.61″E) (Google Maps), this walk is about a 14km return trip.

All of these pictures were taken with the Kodak point & shoot camera.
