Riley's Lock Along the C&O Canal, Maryland
On the 6th of January we had an exceptionally warm day—75F/24C, so I grabbed my sister and we took off for the C&O Canal. We turned up the radio, put the sunroof down, and drove around with our hands sticking out the top. I mostly, though, as the driver, only used one hand for this pursuit.
But you don't get opportunities like this too often, so you've got to make the most of it. And we weren't the only nutbags (that is a word, isn't it?) out there. That's one of the reasons we headed so far north. We actually started at Edward's Ferry.
